Seit der Revision der Rechtschreibreform von 2006 sind mehr orthographische Varianten explizit zugelassen als zuvor und das Phänomen der orthographischen Varianz rückt verstärkt in den Fokus der öffentlichen Diskussion. Dieser Band untersucht die Auswirkungen der orthographischen Varianz auf die kollektive und individuelle literale Praxis. Zur kollektiven Praxis gehören dabei die im Sprachusus beobachtbaren Gebrauchspräferenzen und der Umgang in Regelwerken und Wörterbüchern. Dieser Teil der Untersuchung ist von der Frage geleitet, welche der jeweils zugelassenen Doppelformen sich aufgrund welcher Kriterien im Sprachgebrauch durchsetzen wird.
