Verfemt, verfolgt, verbrannt - Von 1677 bis 1679 kam es in Salzburg zu der schlimmsten Hexenverfolgung auf dem Gebiet des Heiligen Römischen Reichs: 124 vermeintliche Hexen und Zauberer landeten auf dem Scheiterhaufen. Es waren allerdings nicht die üblichen Opfer des Hexenwahns - heilkundige Kräuterfrauen, angebliche Verführerinnen oder Quacksalber - sondern vor allem Kinder und Jugendliche. Ihnen wurde vorgeworfen, Gefolgsleute des Zauberers Jackl zu sein, der eine Bande von jugendlichen Gefährten um sich geschart hatte und mit ihnen bettelnd und stehlend durch die Länder und Regionen zog. Nun versuchte die Obrigkeit, diese Bettlerkinder unter dem Vorwand der Zauberei auszurotten. Angesichts der jüngsten Diskussionen um Bettlerfamilien hat dieses historische Thema eine beklemmende Aktualität.
