Psychische Belastungen und Störungen sind bei Schülern, die der Schule häufig bzw. durchgehend fernbleiben, nicht selten Auslöser oder Resultat der Schulvermeidung, die sich in einem fehlenden Schulabschluss und sehr geringen Chancen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt niederschlagen kann. Dieses Manual dient als Grundlage einer multiprofessionellen Beratung und Behandlung von Schulvermeidern sowie deren Eltern. Es besteht aus vier aufeinander abgestimmten Modulen: 1. Kognitive Verhaltenstherapie mit übergeordnetem Fokus auf die Schulrückführung, 2. Familienberatung, 3. Schulische Beratung, 4. Sport und Psychoedukation. Ziel ist es, das psychische Befinden dieser belasteten Schüler zu verbessern und ihnen eine schnelle Rückkehr in die Schule zu ermöglichen. Das Manual wurde wissenschaftlich evaluiert: Es erwies sich in Hinblick auf die Reintegration in die Schule als genauso effektiv wie die Behandlung bei niedergelassenen Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatern bzw. -psychotherapeuten. Auch bezüglich der psychopathologischen Belastung konnte eine Besserung nachgewiesen werden.
