Il CTAP, Centro TecnolĂłgico Avanzado de la Piedra di Macael, ha tra le sue finalitĂ l'innovazione funzionale, formale e produttiva nei settori delle Pietre Naturali e delle Pietre Artificiali (Composite). Nel 2010 il CTAP ha avviato una linea di ricerca strategica incentrata nello sviluppo di nuovi processi e nuovi materiali per il settore, partendo dalla premessa di minimizzare l'impatto ambientale attraverso la riutilizzazione dei residui di estrazione e lavorazione. Per la realizzazione di questo programma, il CTAP si Ăš rivolto a Perry King e Santiago Miranda, titolari dell'omonimo studio K&MD con sede a Milano. Partendo dall'osservazione delle modalitĂ di estrazione alle successive fasi di elaborazione, K&MD ha avviato in primo luogo un'analisi delle caratteristiche prestazionali, degli utilizzi funzionali e formali che l'architettura e l'industria fanno della pietra. L'obiettivo Ăš ottenere materiali inediti per concezione, proprietĂ tecniche ed estetiche e applicazioni possibili.
