ABOUT THE EDITOR

Dr. Bindi Varghese holds a doctorate in commerce, specializing in tourism. As an academician and tourism profes- sional, she has over sixteen years of academic and industrial experience. Currently, she is affiliated with Christ (Deemed to be University) as an asso- ciate professor and Research Coordi- nator at School of Business Studies and Social Sciences, Bannerghatta Road Campus. She has served many educa- tional institutions in South India and has served as a national and international expert for a decade among the educational institutions of India. Currently, she is actively associated with the Indian Tourism Congress (ITC) and the Kerala Development Society (KDS), New Delhi.
With a passion for research, she has guided MPhil and PhD scholars. The active research undertaken include: impact assessment studies, medical tourism, DMOs, and ecological studies.
Dr. Bindi completed a major research project on ā€œStrategic Interven- tion of Destination Management Organizations to Enhance Competitive- ness of Tourism Destinations—A Model for Karnataka, India,ā€ funded by Christ (Deemed to be University). The study has been presented to the Karnataka Government, India, as an annexure. This action research proposes a strategic model to the Government of Karnataka to improve the quality of tourism in the State. This completed study was funded by Christ (Deemed to be University), Center for Research (2013–2016).
Along with her academic expertise, she is also an issue editor for ATNA—Journal of Tourism Studies, published by Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. She has extensively written for national and international peer-reviewed journals and is very well recognized in the academic circle in India. She has authored a book on medical tourism in India and has also contributed chapters to edited books and has published several articles in areas of destination management, governance, medical tourism, e-tourism, and so forth.
As an educationist, with her experience and expertise, she is frequently invited to address students from other institutions and at various industry summits. Apart from the academic journal, Dr. Bindi also writes for leading newspapers and travel magazines in tourism and hospitality.

CONTRIBUTORS

Anu Ajayagosh is an academic consultant in Toronto, Canada. She has worked as a coordinator for business commerce vocational courses with NMKRV College for Women, Bangalore, India. Anu has completed her MPhil and Master’s degree in Tourism from Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. She holds IATA-UFTAA certification from SATM, Kochi. Being an enthusiastic researcher she has presented and published various research papers in national and international conferences and seminars. Her research interest includes cultural studies and sustainability.
Shamima Akhtar works with TriCounty OIC—an organization dedicated to training and education in Pennsylvania, USA. Prior to relocating to the USA, Shamima worked with Kashmir University, India, as a lecturer in the Tourism Studies Department. In addition to the work as an academician, she also has experienced travel and tourism corporate life while working for different organizations. She has had affiliations with Colorado State University, USA, for her academic growth. Her research interests lie in sustainable tourism practices and destination marketing. Fortifying her research, she has immensely contributed to national and international journals.
K. J. Anson is an assistant professor at the Department of Commerce, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, India. He has completed an MPhil, and with his academic expertise he has widely written in peerreviewed journals and is a regular invitee among the scholarly talks and discussion forums. He is currently pursuing his PhD in behavioral finance. He has a keen interest in interdisciplinary research and has presented papers widely in tourism and hospitality by applying newer methodologies of research into areas of contemporary concern.
Jose K. Antony is an assistant professor in the discipline of tourism studies, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, India. Having completed his Master’s in Tourism Administration from Bangalore University and Master’s in Philosophy (Tourism) from Christ (Deemed to be University), he also holds wide experience in working with the airline and travel industry.
