Antonia, che diventerà la compagna di Brendano; Jole, figlia di Antonia, a soli diciassette anni metterà al mondo Bindo, bambino dalle doti magiche; Fatma, ragazza magnetica di origine afgana. Attorno a questo nucleo, un susseguirsi di eventi darà vita alla sinfonia armonica della storia. Seppur ambientato a fine Novecento, L'isola di Brendano appare come un sogno senza tempo, in cui Sgorlon affronta problematiche esistenziali come l'enigma della vita e della morte, la cosmologia, la religione e lo spiritualismo. In una visione panteista, l'autore ammanta gli eventi di un progressivo afflato arcaico in cui i ritmi della natura, le pratiche contadine e artigianali sono l'unica possibilità di salvezza.
