Jahrhunderts im englischen Handelsleben errungen hatten, bis ins 16. Jahrhundert innegehabt. Doch haben sie ihre Herrschaft auf den englischen MĂ€rkten nicht ohne Kampf behauptet. Die englischen Kaufleute machten immer wieder den Versuch, die Freiheiten der Hansen zu beseitigen und ihre Konkurrenten aus der Ein- und Ausfuhr Englands zu verdrĂ€ngen. Anderthalb Jahrhunderte sind ihre Anstrengungen ergebnislos geblieben. Ebenso haben die EnglĂ€nder in dieser Zeit in den östlichen Gebieten, welche dem europĂ€ischen Westen wichtige Rohstoffe lieferten, nicht festen FuĂ fassen können. Es soll die Aufgabe der vorliegenden Arbeit sein, diese KĂ€mpfe der Hansen um ihre Privilegien und Stellung in England und die Versuche der englischen Kaufleute, in die Gebiete der hansischen Handelsherrschaft einzudringen, zu schildern.
