Der ganze Himmel strahlt in einfarbigem Blau; droben ein einzelnes W lkchen halb schwimmend, halb zerflie end. Windesstille, br tende Hitze... die Luft w rzig wie frischgemolkene Milch! Die Lerchen trillern; die Turteltauben gurren; lautlos gleiten die Schwalben umher; die Pferde schnauben und kauen; die Hunde bellen nicht, stehen da und wedeln friedfertig mit dem Schwanze. Und nach Rauch riecht es, und nach Gras und auch nach Teer ein wenig und ein wenig nach Leder. Der Hanf auf den Feldern ist schon hoch aufgeschossen und str mt seinen schweren, aber s en Duft aus. Eine tiefe, jedoch sanft absteigende Schlucht ffnet sich. An beiden Abh ngen mehrere Reihen dickbuschiger, zerborstener Weiden. In der Tiefe der Schlucht rieselt ein Bach; kleine Kiesel auf seinem Grunde blinken wie zitternd durch seine klaren Wellen hindurch. In der Ferne, am Saume zwischen Erde und Himmel schimmert der bl uliche Streif eines gro en Stromes.
