FMEA moderators need feedback!

The job of moderating during the development of FMEA is demanding. The moderator needs a variety of highly developed skills. For example, these are::

• competence in FMEA methods
• good command of the FMEA software tool and
• moderation techniques and
• confident and productive communication skills and
• ability to cope with difficult communication situations and
• preferably 1 to 2 foreign languages.

In addition to good training, FMEA moderators need regular feedback in order to develop their skills. Coaching sessions have proven themselves suitable for this purpose. They can be supported by appropriate checklists or recording systems.

Evaluation categories for FMEA moderators are, for example:

• Preparation of the FMEA moderation
• Role-taking behaviour of the moderator
• Communication behaviour of FMEA moderator
• Confidence in the use of FMEA methods by the moderator
• Good command of the software tool for developing the FMEA
• Use of media / Visualization techniques used by the moderator
