Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Spannungsverhältnis von Angebot und Nachfrage menschlicher Gewebe und Organe sowie den sie begleitenden vielschichtigen Interessen der «Gewebespender». Behandelt werden sowohl die entnehmenden Institutionen, verarbeitenden Ärzte, Labore und Industriezweige als auch die zukünftigen Empfänger. Die einzelnen Schritte der Entnahme- und Verarbeitungskette werden rechtlich eingeordnet. So wird analysiert, inwiefern die Weiterverwendung ursprünglich zu Diagnose- oder Therapiezwecken entnommener Körpermaterialien der vorhergehenden Aufklärung und Einwilligung des Patienten bedarf. Es werden zudem Vorschläge zur Abänderung bestehender Aufklärungs- und Einwilligungsformulare unterbreitet.
