Le présent volume s'intéresse au phénomène de la littérature interculturelle en Europe depuis les dernières décennies du siècle passé jusqu'à l'actualité. Les onze essais réunis dans ce volume analysent différentes thématiques (déplacement, exil, déracinement, changement de langue, création littéraire et société d'accueil) traitées par des auteures aux optiques très variées en fonction de leur pays d'origine, l'Europe étant leur lieu d'arrivée.

Le terme xénographie féminine désigne une vaste constellation de situations de femmes liées à l'immigration, à l'exil et au voyage volontaire, dont la caractéristique principale est la rencontre avec l'altérité sous différentes manifestations (linguistiques, sociales, culturelles, artistiques et idéologiques). Les xénographies occupent donc une place privilégiée dans la littérature européenne contemporaine, articulée autour d'une diversité d'espaces et de champs littéraires révélateurs d'une identité européenne supranationale.

Les textes sont articulés autour de trois grands axes où les auteures étudiées montrent leur apport et leur originalité à la conception des xénographies féminines. Ainsi sont objet d'étude dans le premier axe, « Entre deux mondes », Fatou Diome, Marzena Sowa, Najat El Hachmi, Laila Karrouch et Kaha Mohamed Aden. Dans le deuxième axe, « Questionnements identitaires », sont abordées Calixthe Beyala, Sema Kiliçkaya, Fatima Gallaire et Anna Moï. Dans le troisième axe, « Figures du retour », figurent Hélé Béji, Fawzia Zouari, Éléni Dikaiou, Cypris Kophidès, Allain Glykos et Nahal Tajadod.
