Doch mit der ersten republikanisch-demokratischen Verfassung auf hessischem Boden feierte jüngst auch eine publizistisch bislang kaum erschlossene Landesverfassung den 100. Jahrestag ihres Inkrafttretens. Das vorliegende Werk beleuchtet die wichtigsten Stationen des Übergangs vom alten Großherzogtum zum Volksstaat Hessen und bietet erstmals eine umfassende Darstellung seiner Verfassung vom 12. Dezember 1919 unter Berücksichtigung der landständischen Konstitution von 1820, der deutschen Zwischenkriegsverfassungen sowie der Hessischen Verfassung von 1946.
