Scrivere horror, oggi, non è semplice. Bisogna sapere quali sono gli elementi imprescindibili di questo genere, fra i più amati in narrativa, al cinema e in TV. Per farlo, Luigi Boccia, grande esperto di horror a tutti i livelli (è scrittore, sceneggiatore, regista, giornalista e direttore del periodico Weird Movies ) prende a esempio film e romanzi che hanno fatto la storia del genere, ma non per ricordare il passato, quanto piuttosto per prenderne spunto per superarlo e arrivare al presente, cercando di dare una precisa fisionomia all'horror di domani. Come dice lo stesso Boccia. "Il fine ultimo del genere horror è soggiogarci: attraverso la paura, senza nessuna regola, terrorizzarci fin dentro le ossa, possibilmente attingendo ai ricordi della nostra infanzia (una sorta di pozzo nero in cui ogni cosa diventa possibile), e se a suscitarci queste emozioni negative è un nome ben preciso, un nome che è sinonimo di spavento e crudeltà, allora lo scopo è stato raggiunto". Luigi Boccia, sceneggiatore e regista, ha pubblicato i romanzi Confessionale Nero (1997), La Janara (2007), Leonardo da Vinci e la finestra sul tempo (2014) e La notte chiama (Delos Digital, con Nicola Lombardi). Ha curato diverse raccolte antologiche, tra le quali Fame – La trilogia cannibale, La Stagione della Follia, Malefica e Il paese dell'oscurità. È autore dei saggi Arcistreghe, Licantropi, Cinemalab e Il cinema digitale. Per la Star Comics ha ideato con Sergio Stivaletti la serie a fumetti Factor-V. È stato direttore di diverse testate, tra cui SciFi Now e Weird Tales Italia. Attualmente dirige la rivista del cinema fantastico internazionale Weird Movies e, per Delos Digital, la collana Horror Story.
