Sicuramente meno conosciuta, invece, è la realtà aumentata o, in inglese, Augmented Reality (AR), la quale, grazie al supporto di moderni device come gli smartphone e i tablet, si sta espandendo a un ritmo molto più veloce di quella virtuale, proprio perché ormai tutti possiedono questi device, e sta diventando una tecnologia di cui non si potrà fare a meno.
