III.I How to Effectively Ruin Leadership Authority
The most effective way to lose leadership authority is to not be authentic. A lack of authenticity leads to withdrawal of relational trust. When it comes to professional trust, demonstrative incompetence will do the job of ruining leadership trust. However, there are other ways of leadership behavior that also ruin trust.
All these ways of behavior have one thing in common: They reveal – either directly or indirectly - a lack of appreciation from the leader towards the follower, and thus fundamentally destroy trust.
