About this book
What is it?]There are at least four philosophical schools addressing the topic "consciousness": the philosophy of mind that is still alive, phenomenology, naturalism, and philosophy of language. Naturalism is dominant in the neurosciences and cognitive sciences and also in an analytical philosophy oriented towards materialism. The approach of the philosophy of language, based on the late Wittgenstein, is represented by Ernst Tugendhat or Peter Hacker. Exponents of the philosophy of mind are for example Wolfgang Cramer, Dieter Henrich, and Manfred Frank. These four schools are more or less opponents and take little notice of each other. But a complete overview as well as a respective positioning would be desirable, because it seems that all schools have their relative rights, but in different respects which have to be defined exactly.
