Im Bemühen gesichertes Wissen über Gottes Heilsplan und die Teilhabe des Menschen daran zu erlangen, trat die Unsicherheit der menschlichen Erkenntnis zunehmend zu Tage.[Prophecies as Participation in the Plan of Salvation. This concerns also prophecies within Lutheran contexts in the Confessional Period. The present study explores the strategies and knowledge lay people and clergymen used to authenticate or reject prophecies as God's calls to action. Further the study traces how the plurality and contradiction of prophecies grew visible through the print media. In trying to improve the reliable knowledge about the divine plan of salvation and the participation of mankind, the increasing uncertainty of human knowledge became obvious.
