Fürbitten als religiöse Performance

Eine ethnographisch-theologische Untersuchung in drei kontrastierenden Berliner Gottesdienstkulturen

About this book

An Ethnographical-Theological Analysis of Three Contrasting Worship Cultures in Berlin]Current German liturgical scholarship renders the act of interceding as a pivotal means of participation. Here the congregation is seen and heard. At the same time, it is anticipated that this sovereignty of interceding as an act of the congregation is increasingly threatened by a pastoral takeover, that turns public prayer into minor homilies or lectures. Meanwhile, under the scholarly radar, today's urban liturgical landscape is pervaded by a new diversity of intercessory prayer styles. In view of this, a comparative ethnographic study of contrasting worship cultures fleshes out the rich knowledge of God that comes with different ways to intercede. Approaching intercessory prayers as performance exposes yet unseen acoustic and corporeal phenomena of cooperation between everyone present.
