Somit wird exemplarisch an dem "Erbaulichen Handbüchlein" das pietistisch-ganzheitliche Erziehungs- und Bildungskonzept in der Nachfolge Franckes deutlich, aber es zeigen sich auch theologische und erste religionspädagogische Modifizierungen und darin der Versuch, neue katechetische Grundlagen für den Religionsunterricht zu schaffen. Dadurch wird das "Erbauliche Handbüchlein" zu einer theologiehistorisch relevanten Quelle, welche den Kenntnisstand der Forschung zur historischen Religionspädagogik signifikant erweitert.
