Hierbei werden institutionelle, literarische und traditionsgeschichtliche "Sitze im Leben" von "mystischen" Texten und Texttraditionen von der Antike über das Mittelalter bis in die Frühe Neuzeit betrachtet.[Christian and Jewish Mysticism. Similarities and Differences]Can different Jewish and Christian texts, usually considered under the heading of "mysticism", really be understood as sub-cases of a general religious phenomenon?The conference volume aims to document the state of the debate on the concept of mysticism in various academic disciplines (Jewish Studies, Classical Studies, Medieval Studies, Theology) and to discuss the different interdisciplinary approaches. In doing so, institutional, literary and traditional-historical "Sitze im Leben" of "mystical" texts and text traditions from antiquity to the Middle Ages and early modern times are explored.
