About this book

Kein Sachbuch des Suizids also, sondern eine Unterredung ĂŒber menschliches Leben hĂ€lt der Leser in HĂ€nden.["About the Prodigal Son" – Sinful Human Being and Justifying God. Positions in the Suicidal Field]How does human life appear in the shadow of self-strangulation? On the basis of the biblical figure of the prodigal son, the abysmal event of suicide is explored in several attempts. In the process, the phenomenon is repeatedly examined and any explanation that seeks to abandon the phenomenon and lead it back to something else and thus for its part refuses to talk to the suicide victim is rejected. The reflections do not give a lecture, but are dialogical. A literary conversation with other texts is conducted by these texts, which are at the same time the expression of a long-standing collegial conversation and thus invite the reader to raise his own voice. In the network of such conversations, the – unmanageable – conversation with the suicide is sought. Thus, it is not a non-fiction book of suicide, but a conversation about human life that the reader holds in his hands.
