About this book
The work deals with forms of episodic and multi-strand storytelling - a narrative in which the classic linear narrative breaks down into a large number of individual stories that are lined up together, or storylines that run side by side and are linked together. These narrative forms are analyzed in terms of their design and intentions as well as their structural and narratological peculiarities in comparison to classic narrative models. Episodic and multi-strand narration is understood as an inter-medial and intercultural phenomenon and analyzed using selected examples from the English, American, German and Italian film and literary history.
