Waiting on God

A 31-Day Study

About this book

Wait for the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, for the LORD – Psalm 27: 14Too little time is given to waiting on the Lord at our conventions and assemblies, and in our private devotions. Isn't He willing to make things right in His own divine way? Has the life of God's people reached the utmost limit of what He is willing to do for them? Surely not. We need to wait on Him and put away our experiences, however blessed they have been; our personal concept of truth, however sound and scriptural we think it is; our plans, however needful and suitable they appear. We must give the Lord time and place to show us what He could do and what He will do. The Lord has new developments and new resources. He can do new things, unheard-of things, and hidden things. Let us enlarge our hearts and not limit Him.

Absolute Surrender, by Andrew Murray
“My God, I am willing that You would make me willing.”
God waits to bless us in a way beyond what we expect. From the beginning, ear has not heard, neither has the eye seen, what God has prepared for those who wait for Him (Isaiah 64:4). God has prepared unheard of things, things you never can think of, blessings much more wonderful than you can imagine and mightier than you can conceive. They are divine blessings. Oh, come at once and say, “I give myself absolutely to God, to His will, to do only what God wants.” God will enable you to carry out the surrender necessary, if you come to Him with a sincere heart.

Divine Healing, by Andrew Murray
Health as well as salvation is to be obtained by faith. The natural tendency of man is to bring about his salvation by his works, and it is only with difficulty that he comes to receive it by faith. But when it is a question of healing the body, he has still more difficulty grasping that truth. As to salvation, he finally accepts it because there is no other way to open the door of heaven. But for the body, he makes use of many other treatments. But happy is he who understands that it is the will of God to show the power of Jesus and to reveal to us His Fatherly love by healing physically as well as spiritually. By doing so, He increases and confirms our faith and teaches us that He demonstrates the power of redemption in the body as well as in the soul.

How to Raise Children for Christ,
by Andrew Murray
I will put my trust in Him … Behold I and the children which God has given me – Hebrews 2:13
Children are a most precious gift that we receive from God, and they deserve our very best. Our faithful training will not be lost on our children; this is a promise found over and over again in the Scriptures. If our hearts are right towards God and our children, the world’s influence will not impact our children. We can and must exercise faith, so our children and our children’s children will be able to impact the world for Christ and inherit eternal blessings.

Humility, by Andrew Murray
Is humility a Christlike attribute that should be pursued? And even if it should be, can genuine humility actually be attained? Often so practical in application that it is overlooked, the answer is found by studying the life and words of Christ (whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your slave). This little book is a loud call to all committed Christians to prove that meekness and lowliness of heart is the evidence by which those who follow the meek and lowly Lamb of God are to be known. Never mind that your initial efforts will be misunderstood, taken advantage of, or even resisted. Instead, learn from the One who came not to be ministered unto, but to serve. For a Christian to be alive, for the life of Christ to reign in and through us, we must be empty of ourselves, exchanging our life for His life, our pride for true, Christlike humility.

The Ministry of Intercession, by Andrew Murray
If the answer to prayer is so positively promised in scripture, why are there so many unanswered prayers today (often misinterpreted as a “no”)? Scripture teaches us that answer to prayer depends upon certain conditions. Christ spoke of ...
