Kamppi & Töölö

Abutting the city centre to the west, lively Kamppi is a busy transport hub and home to outstanding museums and cultural institutions. To its north, peaceful Töölö is a lovely, leafy area that stretches to Hietaranta, one of Helsinki's most popular beaches.

The Sights in a Day

MKamppi is right by the city centre, so it's an ideal place to kick off your explorations. The district is packed with museums: you'll have to make some choices. The headliners here are the Kansallismuseo and the Tennispalatsi, housing the Helsinki Art Museum, but other museums include the Amos Andersonin Taidemuseo and, from 2018, its vast new gallery space, the subterranean Amos Rex. Also in this compact area, take time to visit stunning churches, both historic – Vanha Kirkko – and new – Kamppi Chapel.
RIndulge in an exceptional and artistic lunch at Grön. Afterwards, make your way to Töölö, which has another truly unique church, the rock-carved Temppeliaukion Kirkko. If it's beach weather, stroll via the Hietaniemi Cemetery to sandy Hietaranta.
NBy night, the Alvar Aalto–designed Finlandia Talo is one of several superb entertainment venues. Alternatively, explore the district's edgier side with a tour of local nightlife.
