Downtown & West End

The heart of Vancouver is an ocean-fringed peninsula easily divided into three: the grid-pattern city center streets of shops, restaurants and glass towers fanning from the intersection of Granville and West Georgia Sts; the well-maintained 1950s apartment blocks and residential side streets of the West End (also home to Vancouver’s gay district); and Stanley Park, Canada’s finest urban green space.

Top SightStanley Park

One of North America’s largest urban green spaces, Stanley Park is revered for its dramatic forest-and-mountain oceanfront views. But there’s more to this 400-hectare woodland than looks. The park is studded with nature-hugging trails, family-friendly attractions, sunset-loving beaches and tasty places to eat. There’s also the occasional unexpected sight to search for (besides the raccoons that call the place home).
