La réception de George Sand en Pologne est considérée dans ces études par le biais des « présences » de la romancière dans la culture du pays: écrivaine célèbre, femme émancipée et maîtresse de Chopin. C'est au XIX e siècle que l'admiration pour l'œuvre sandienne se manifestait vivement à travers traductions, essais critiques, spectacles de théâtre, affinités subtiles dans l'œuvre des grands romanciers. L'exemple de la vie de Sand encourageait les Polonaises dans leur activité. Dès le début du XX e siècle, l'image dominante de Sand devient celle de la maîtresse de Chopin.
