Das Buch untersucht den interkulturellen Aspekt im frühen Unterricht Deutsch als Fremdsprache, auch in Folge Deutsch nach Englisch an polnischen Grundschulen. Besonderes Augenmerk liegt auf dem pragmatisch-kommunikativen Gebiet. Ausgehend davon, dass Sprach- und Kulturvermittlung eng miteinander verknüpft sind, hat der Fremdsprachenunterricht nicht nur das Erlangen sprachlicher, sondern auch interkultureller Kompetenz, im Sinne kommunikativ-pragmatisch angemessenen Handelns, als Lehr- und Lernziel. Im Falle eines Unterrichts DaF im Kontext DnE ist es daher von Interesse, kulturvergleichend zu arbeiten. Die Autorin analysiert, welchen Einfluss das Englische als erste Fremdsprache auf den Unterricht Deutsch als zweite Fremdsprache in Bezug auf die Förderung interkultureller Kompetenz bei jüngeren Lernenden hat.
