Sie ist ein Beitrag zur Papstgeschichte: Sie beleuchtet einen frĂŒhen Lebensabschnitt Pius' XI. und macht erkennbar, wie diese Phase in dem spĂ€teren Pontifikat nachgewirkt hat. Sie ist ein Beitrag zur Geschichte des Predigtwesens: Sie wirft Schlaglichter auf die damalige Situation der Homiletik und auf das Theologische Seminar zu Mailand; auf diesem Hintergrund stellt sie Achille Ratti als Predigtlehrer und Prediger dar. Die Studie ist auch ein Beitrag zur Geschichte des Bibliothekswesens: Sie zeigt auf, daß fĂŒr Ratti der Lehrstuhl der «Sacra eloquenza» zur Vorschule seiner TĂ€tigkeit als Bibliothekar der Ambrosiana / Vaticana wurde. Sein Wirken in den Bibliotheken umfaßte dann drei Jahrzehnte seines Lebens.
