Les auteurs analysent et comparent la façon dont cette guerre change les visions du monde, chez les belligĂ©rants, chez les neutres, en Europe et hors d'Europe. Comment les systĂšmes de reprĂ©sentations ou les imaginaires ont-ils Ă©tĂ© transformĂ©s et ont modifiĂ© la perception et l'image des grandes puissances en guerre? Comment les mĂ©moires ont-elles Ă©tĂ© affectĂ©es dans la durĂ©e?

Il s'agit de montrer les Balkans au cƓur du premier conflit mondial Ă  travers les enjeux territoriaux, les identitĂ©s collectives et les traces de guerre. La problĂ©matique centrale est celle des « entrĂ©es en guerre » afin de mieux dĂ©finir la notion d'« Ă©tat de guerre ». Le jeu d'Ă©chelles est pris en compte tant au niveau des espaces, entre le local et le global, qu'Ă  celui des temporalitĂ©s, entre le court et le long terme.
