Introduction

Did everything come from nothing? Perhaps it is the height of human arrogance and folly to even broach the topic, wondering whether anything existed before the putative inception of our physical universe with a singularity event approximately 13.8 billion years ago, the Big Bang. Yet it is the quintessential question that has vexed the minds of mankind’s greatest philosophers and scientists throughout human history, from Aristotle and Plato to Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

I have no delusions that I possess the same level of intellectual acumen as the great scientific, philosophical, and spiritual thinkers of the past or present, on whose shoulders much of humanity’s development stands. In actually, I am just a curious fellow who fancies musing about the origin of the physical universe, and ultimately how human self-consciousness and spirituality came into being. I use my learned and intuitive skill sets to accumulate and assimilate disparate data points to draw conclusions about the true nature of our universe.

In moments of quiet introspection, it is normal to ask ourselves why we exist and search for meaning and understanding about reality and the purpose of life. Yet in our hurried modern world, most people are far too burdened by the travails of day-to-day life to ponder the questions of creation and existence for any meaningful length of time. These lofty and esoteric issues are best left to renowned spiritual masters throughout history to explain.

The prevailing default answer to the big questions about life is to rely upon the ancient wisdom handed down to us by Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Mohammed et. al., and not needlessly dwell on the topic. Fair enough … that is the raison d’etre, or primary purpose, for most of the world’s great religions—provide the laity an ostensible God-centered answer to the big question: Was there anything before everything physical somehow popped into existence?

This book’s purpose is not designed to provide definitive spiritual or scientific answers to the ultimate questions, but rather to conjecture a probable explanation in laymen’s terms based on logical deductions. We will bravely travel down both the subjective spiritual and objective scientific paths which appear to be approaching an unexpected crossroads in the twenty-first century. Perhaps in this intersection between the non-local metaphysical timeless realm of pure consciousness and the local material space and time world, there lies a satisfactory answer.

In this book, I have coined the term “Faith Physics” to describe the ongoing convergence of spirituality and science to postulate a new theory of everything (ToE). Specifically, Faith Physics is a fresh concept which combines the common core beliefs of Eastern and Western religious traditions—the Perennial Philosophy—with contemporary principles of macro classical physics and micro quantum physics which includes the essential role of “consciousness” in creation.

At first blush the idea of combining faith and physics appears to be oxymoronic or pseudoscientific in nature. However, in an era when scientists have empirically proven the existence of phenomena such as “quantum entanglement” (non-local “spooky action at a distance” between previously intertwined subatomic particles) which has no rational explanation using the principles of classical physics, perhaps the time has come to make a proverbial leap of faith. Faith Physics proposes a ToE which is an amalgam of both physical and metaphysical reality.

Until now, all visible, natural world action was understood from Isaac Newton to Albert Einstein to be a gravitational cause-and-effect proposition reducible to predictable mathematical formulae. This observed action was considered to be completely separate and apart from any influence by ephemeral consciousness in the physical world’s construction under the prevailing scientific materialism doctrine.

Quantum physics, however, flipped this seemingly axiomatic materialist truism on its head with the advent of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle making particle location at the subatomic level a matter of probability as opposed to certainty. Non-material conscious observation suddenly became recognized as an integral part of the physical creation process and not a meaningless epiphenomenon originating from the physical brain. Consciousness itself was determinative of whether a wave function probability collapsed into a material particle state, and consciousness could no longer be relegated to the category of a mysterious unrelated brain epiphenomenon.

Now sinking into the collective human psyche is that true reality lies far beyond the inferior temporal material realm of three spatial dimensions plus time that we perceive with our five senses from cradle to grave. Indeed, some logically theorize we are merely living in a holographic universe at the physical level. Our intuitive knowledge that we are all part of some greater eternal source of being appears to becoming truer in light of new quantum scientific discoveries.

Faith Physics maintains a sublime, timeless Supreme Consciousness is the catalyst of all material creation as a great thought via pure white light in zero-point quantum fields otherwise known as Higgs fields. In the quantum wave/particle mass duality paradigm, energy itself traveling below the speed of light becomes particulate physical matter in accord with Einstein’s famous equation of E=mc2. Using the natural laws of classical physics, quantum mechanics, and the dark matter/energy that composes 95 percent of our known universe, a Supreme Consciousness or Godhead manifests physical creation from eternal quantum fields in a remarkable myriad of forms. This is an intellectually sound and spiritually satisfying ToE.

Faith Physics is not the far-fetched idea it once would have been in a Cartesian cause-and-effect model of the universe wherein the scientific materialism school of thought and determinism prevailed by strictly separating physical particle creation from human consciousness. To continue the metaphor, the distance of the so called ‘leap of faith’ has been dramatically shortened. Empirical data supplied by quantum physics experimentation and mathematics has proven beyond a reasonable doubt the existence of a far different cosmic reality in both theory and substance.

Faith is belief in an imperceptible force that can only be proven by deduction through its physical creations. The invisible, omnipotent God, called Yahweh by the ancient Hebrews, was the foundation of the Jewish monotheistic faith in an era when rational men could only seriously worship visible material idols. Abraham, the first monotheist and father of Judaism, made a proverbial leap of faith by shattering the physical idols he grew up with when he had the epiphany that there is only one invisible ineffable God in the universe.

Three-dimensional space is defined as a geometric three-parameters model of the physical universe (excluding time) in which all known matter exists. These three dimensions can be labeled by a combination of length, width, height, depth, and breadth. Any three directions can be chosen if they do not all lie in the same plane.

In this limited three-dimensional world (which could be a two-dimensional hologram) a person cannot perceive other dimensional planes of existence due to the human inability to perceive things beyond their innate bodily senses. There is also a finite limit to the measuring capacity of even the most sophisticated scientific equipment to pierce through the cosmic veil concealing the true eternal base reality directed and controlled by a timeless super-consciousness.

However, by employing the principles of Faith Physics, we can achieve a collective revolutionary advance in human understanding predicated upon a combination of both esoteric spiritual wisdom and objective hard science findings. Specifically, as Einstein inferred, that we live our life as if everything is a miracle (created by design from a supremely conscious metaphysical source) rather than perpetuating a dubious materialistic viewpoint that the entire physical universe sprung into existence by random chance from an abyss of nothingness. Perhaps the ‘no’ thing dimension of pure consciousness is as real, if not in fact more real, than our physical ‘every’ thing dimension of space, time, and matter.

More probable is that the ‘no’ thing consciousness dimension is the eternal superior realm from whence our temporal inferior physical dimension emanated from approximately 13.8 billion years ago with the Big Bang singularity event. In other words, we are born into an artificially created holographic particle universe that originated from a timeless realm of pure consciousness as a “great thought.” The physical dimension is therefore subordinate to the eternal supreme consciousness realm from which the material universe originated.

Faith Physics provides a new way of looking at the old conundrum of “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” With Faith Physics, the chicken and the egg are concurrent acts of creation rather than a before-and-after or cause-and-effect proposition governed by linear time constraints in the macro natural world. This opens the door to an entirely new ToE based on both spirituality and science where creation flows from the top (pure consciousness) to bottom (material particle formation) and not vice-versa as postulated by a popular theory known as ‘material reductionism’. Perhaps the over-arching theme of Faith Physics can be reduced to three simple words … mind over matter. The eternal supreme consciousness of one mind is from whence the temporal physical universe of matter sprang into existence.

Material reductionism, on the other hand, presents a truncated view of reality that ignores the unknown phenomenon as being unreal and therefore irrelevant. The mere fact that something cannot be proven through objective scientific experimentation makes it an irrational fiction. Materialists myopically maintain that only objectively measured material objects verified by science exist. All else is fiction. Human beings and other living creatures are ultimately collections of atoms and molecules further reduced to quarks and electrons which are all that exist in the universe.

Subjective or immaterial experiences are caused by and are expressions of purely material forces. Love may feel immaterial, but it is nothing more than electrochemical impulses that evolution has implanted in your brain and nervous system. If material reductionism is true, then belief in an immaterial God or Supreme Consciousness becomes an impossible fiction to rationally maintain.

Supersymmetry, however, theorizes that in subtle unseen dimensions, the mere thought of a denser physical thing results in particle creation. Quantum physics has proven through empirical experiments that a pure energy wave function field of potentiality collapses to becomes a particle within the mundane physical universe due to conscious observation. A quantum wave collapses to become a quantum particle by conscious design using super-symmetry and not by mere chance. This concept is in full accord with Faith Physics that postulates a new ToE whereby the physical particle manifests itself as a direct product arising from an eternal non-manifest morphogenetic conscious wave field of possibilities.

Faith Physics draws upon supersymmetry theory advocating that multiple dimensions beyond the three-dimensional physical universe are extant but remain hidden from us due to our inherently limited human perception and scientific technical abilities. The fact that these dimensions are imperceptible to our human senses (derived from organic bodies designed to operate in the physical realm), and cannot be penetrated by the most modern scientific detection equipment, does not detract from the reality of the existence of such unseen dimensions. Indeed, mystical ancient spiritual wisdom contained in religious tomes such as the Jewish Kabbalah intuitively foresaw there exists ten-dimensions as modern physics string theory now postulates.

The below Venn diagram depicts how the Faith Physics dimension (or zone) intersects with both the superior non-local timeless dimension of pure consciousness and the inferior local space/time dimension of material governed by classical and quantum physics. The invisible, eternal pure consciousness domain circle remains separate and apart from the material/physical domain circle wherein the classical standard model of physics dictates predictable cause-and-effect behavior in the consciously created macro-world in the ever-present now. Only the Faith Physics zone circle combines both the local and non-local attributes that appear separate and exclusive in the other two realms of existence.
