1.1 INTRODUCTION

Humanity has been ravaged by plagues and pandemics, often changing the framework of the functioning of the globe. The monstrous and deadly family of human pathogens causes various types of diseases, including the common cold and more painful illnesses that result in the untimely death of the infected. Due to the crown-shaped protrusions around itself, the virus has been named coronavirus. The effects of COVID-19 were first discovered in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, and now nearly the whole world is in the grips of the pandemic (WHO, 2020).
According to the WHO, since the symptoms are curable, hence, the treatment is based on the severity of the patient (WHO, 2020). In India, where a significant part of the revenue is generated by tourism and continued supply chain processes, the country will be under the impression of decline amid prolonged quarantine, thereby weakening the global economy or even causing a recession. Researchers predicted that the pandemic would undoubtedly cause the gross domestic product (GDP) to reach 0% in the year 2020 (Mishra, 2020).
Globally, governments face an alarming hike in the number of patients and have taken some bold steps to protect their citizens. India, too, took a bold step by implementing a harsh lockdown throughout the nation for 21 days, which can be considered one of the most extensive lockdown periods ever held (Gupta & Madgavkar, 2020). The halted economic development, rise in unemployment, and increasing severity of the crisis have made it essential to bring out some evolutionary measures to restore the conditions.
Researchers, via harmonized technology, mapped out measures and their implementation by voluntary and enforceable plans, giving a ray of hope for countries worst affected like Italy (Bruin et al., 2020). Intermittently, Asian countries too took immediate action after witnessing the situation in Italy, and nations are putting in rigorous efforts to resume their previous life in the country (Waris et al., 2020).
The battle is already half won if one is confident enough and free from all fears that signify the need to take the citizens’ mental situation as a matter of concern (Roy et al., 2020). Moreover, researchers shared several operational guidelines and strategies to be instantly implemented for minimizing the spread of COVID-19 as well as helping to maintain all the clinical and educational needs of hospitals (Goh et al., 2020).
Based on identified literature, it can be seen that there is minimal discussion about the working of different sections of society in fighting against the crisis. Thus, the purpose of this study is to scrutinize the synergy among the people of the nation in reducing the spread of COVID-19, which in turn will give out some fruitful results which no doubt can be analyzed to counter the situation of the pandemic in any country. The methodology used signifies a completely result-oriented approach to describe the conditions in a particular area. Dividing society into four quadrants and accordingly defining some indicators to quantify their effectiveness has been done. Moreover, using these indicators, different parts of India are listed as critical places by health advisories.
Objective-oriented research done in this study will not only help to improve the condition of the crisis in different parts of the nation, it will also sum up the efforts of the four quadrants of society. The results are crucial for completely turning the situation at worst affected parts upside down and highlighting the loopholes in the districts acclaimed as models that could help them in completely uprooting the traces of COVID-19.

1.2 FOUR QUADRANTS OF SOCIETY

The national emblem of the Republic of India is an adaptation of the Lion Capital of Ashoka, which features four lions symbolizing power, courage, confidence, and pride. Similarly, the people of India working diligently against COVID-19 are termed as COVID-19-warriors/COVID-19-fighters by everyone and comprise police officers, doctors, nurses, sanitation service members, delivery people, and more. So, to analyze their coordination, an exemplary display of grit and determination, these people have been divided into four quadrants as follows:
  1. Administration/Policymakers: The first quadrant of COVID-19 warriors comprises administration and policymakers, who are working day and night to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Be it imposing a severe lockdown, cluster mapping, identifying hotspots, or testing and appealing, the fighters have done all to protect their citizens. Additionally, the individuals participating in numerous hackathons and competitions by the government to generate ideas to combat COVID-19 and the manufacturers working tirelessly in manufacturing daily needs are undoubtedly an aid to the first quadrant and made their efforts fruitful.
  2. Population at Home: Second quadrant warriors are the population at home consistently following the instructions of the first quadrant for reducing the impact of COVID-19 and are undoubtedly a major support. Whether it is cancelling all their once in a lifetime gatherings or sacrificing their time for the betterment of the nation, they deserve a bow.
  3. Essential Service Providers: Third quadrant COVID-19 warriors are similar to the fourth lion of our emblem, which is hidden, but without its support the efforts of the other three are incomplete. Essential service providers like sanitation workers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), delivery people, vendors of daily needs, and media persons who provide updates made the sacrifice of the population at home worthy. They didn’t...
