Worin die Chancen des Musizierens im Gottesdienst, in der Gemeindeentwicklung und in der religiösen Bildungsarbeit liegen, wird aufgezeigt. The contributions in this volume show how this occurs and how to honor this theologically. Especially in Protestantism, music managed to become the preeminent medium for spiritual experiences. It can be appreciated theologically as a play of freedom. Images of God are reflected in it in different ways. At the same time, there is a struggle for styles and forms of musical practice in the church. "Neues Geistliches Lied" (new spiritual song), gospel or techno, for instance, are being put to the test. The contributions highlight opportunities for playing music in worship, in congregational development and in religious education. And they develop the idea that singing continues to count as one of the features of Christian faith in public.
