Vor hundert Jahren sah es in der Eifel noch anders aus. Sie war karg und wenig erschlossen. Ihre Einwohner mussten mit den UmstĂ€nden, die sie vorfanden, zurechtkommen. Sie waren sparsam und innovativ. Sie trotzten den schweren Zeiten nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg, dem WĂ€hrungsverfall der 1920er-Jahre und den Wirren der SeparatistenaufstĂ€nde. Der NĂŒrburgring brachte erste kleine wirtschaftliche Verbesserungen. Der Zweite Weltkrieg unterbrach diese Zeit des Aufbruchs. Sein Ende und der Zusammenbruch des Staatswesens zog die Region abermals herunter. Dennoch begann eine Zeit, in der der wirtschaftliche Aufschwung der Nachkriegszeit auch hier ankam. Die Hocheifel blĂŒhte auf. Ich war Zeitzeuge. Dennoch waren die Unterschiede zu heute riesengroĂ. Davon und von den Erschwernissen junger Menschen fĂŒr ihren Werdegang handelt dieser Bericht. Er soll auch ein GespĂŒr dafĂŒr geben, was wir verlieren können.
