Straßburg war nicht nur seit der Reichseinigung 1871 eine stetig umkämpfte Grenzstadt - sondern immer auch ein ideenpolitischer Kampfplatz der "Entgrenzung". Ob französische Exiluniversität oder deutsche Reichskriegsuniversität, ob Laboratorium oder Brückenkopf, ob innovative "annales"-Schule oder völkische Großraumwissenschaft - Straßburg hatte viele Gesichter. An kaum einen anderen Ort lassen sich die intellektuellen Chancen wie auch ideologischen Gefahren der "Entgrenzung" so gut studieren wie in dieser Grenzstadt im Elsass. Die Entgrenzung und ihre Grenzen - unsere aktuelle Zeiterfahrung im Schatten der Pandemie, hier in Straßburg wurde unter ständig wechselnden methodischen und politischen Vorzeichen dieses Kapitel hundertfünfzig Jahre ideenhistorisch durchgespielt.
