It updates and completes her work up to 2000, paying special attention to the progress made on technological and international fronts that have significantly altered the role and function of the librarian, especially the rise of the internet in the 1990s. The ramifications of this new level of global connectedness and of the new role of the librarian are of primary concern for author Jeffrey M. Wilhite.
