On y examine également comment les publicités télévisées, des slogans particuliers, les discours d'inaugurations, des téléséries historiques proposent une rhétorique identitaire qui permis à Hydro-Québec de jouir auprès des Québécois d'un statut culturel et symbolique reconnu comme unique au Canada. Finalement, on analyse comment il est possible, dans une situation historique donnée, de mettre en récit l'exploitation des ressources énergétiques et de le présenter a la fois comme téléologie et justification d'une orientation politique collective plus globale. Ainsi est examiné plus avant l'impact que peut avoir la jouissance de ces ressources sur la conception d'une destinée collective présentée symboliquement comme "nationale".
