The Tower of Babel - Legend or History?

About this book

The Tower of Babel - Legend or History? reveals our shared ancestry as never before! Have you ever wondered if the Tower of Babel Story was about a real thing? Certainly, many scientists and historians try not to confirmed its existence but according to many, people were simply too dumb to have created such a thing 6 or 7 thousand years ago.
This book takes the reader back to the Tower of Babel and discusses themes and ideas present that resonate throughout Genesis, the Bible, and into modern history. The reader will more fully understand why the Tower of Babel narrative appears where it does in biblical history. Furthermore, the reader will learn why this event in human history remains one of the single most important events in the interaction of humanity and the divine.

The Tower of Babel
Legend or History?

Ever since I first have been reading a book about the ancient history of the Middle East and seeing the first reproduction of the ancient Mesopotamian ziggurats, I have said to myself that, of course, the biblical legend of the Tower of Babel could have inspired from an event linked to the construction of this ziggurat. And behold that, for many decades, all the experts that have dealt with this problem have reached to the conclusion that the biblical story has its starting point in the Babylon ziggurat. From all accounts, Judah’s kingdom, whose capital was Jerusalem, has participated in two anti-Babylonian alliances defeated by kind Nebuchadnezzar the 2nd and, as a result, the cream of Jerusalem was exiled in 598 BC, and afterwards, in 587 BC, the town was destroyed, the entire population being deported in Babylonia. Besides, the Assyrians also, more than a century ago, surrounded Jerusalem and were preparing to escalade it, but, with a pestilence breaking out in the city, the Assyrian king Sennacherib built the siege, fearing that his army could contaminate. The Old Testament refers to this event when it states: “In this night it was known that the Angel of God has appeared and stroked the encampment of the Assyrians 185,000 and when they have woken up the next morning, there were bodies everywhere.” Then, Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, by rising, has left and returned and lived in Nineveh”.
Only in 536 BC, when the Achaemenids have conquered Babylon, the king Cyrus has allowed the Hebrews to return to their mother country: a slow return, which has unfolded in more stages.
Unfortunately, a few ample studies that treat exclusively the problem of the Babel Tower – of which we mention the books Le tour de Babel and Ziggurats of the bright archeologist Andree Parrot – they are not found, to my knowledge, in any of our libraries, therefore we can only mention them here. But th...
