1. An Overview and Quick Guide of the E-Book
The testes are an essential component of the male genitalia. Most importantly, they perform the vital job of making sperm and androgens, among other things. Androgens are what most people refer to as male hormones. They keep several of the bodily functions running on track, in addition to maintaining your fertility, of course. Therefore, contrary to popular opinion, the testes do much more than just produce sperm to sustain male fertility.
Sometimes, these testicular functions may begin to go wrong, or a few external factors such as bacteria or testicular trauma may send them off-track. How do you know when something like this happens within your testicles? Well, your body tells you that something’s not quite right inside through its language of signs and symptoms. Unusual sensations and changes around your testicles are usually initial indicators of such illnesses. These signs can be everything from mild pain or discomfort to lumps or swelling around the testicles.
Most of these symptoms are distressing enough to raise alarming questions in your mind about your testicular health. Indeed, some of these symptoms may even sow frightening suspicions of having developed testicular cancer. Fortunately, every lump isn’t necessarily cancer! As luck would have it, not even 4% of testicular lumps are tumors, out of which, only a fraction are actually malignant or cancerous [1]. Nevertheless, even the slightest pain or the tiniest lump around your testicles should be acknowledged and addressed.
Usually, young people don’t expect to be affected by cancer or any such illness. However, the bad news is that testicular cancer is more of a young man’s disease, with a higher incidence in 14-40-year-old males. The good news is that it’s highly treatable. The most well-known example of this is Lance Armstrong, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the young age of 25, only to beat it over the next couple of years.
Very often, people mistake their scrotal bags for their testes. Well, the testes are actually two oval-shaped organs within the scrotal bag, so you can’t see them on the outside. What you see on the outside is actually your scrotum or scrotal bag. There are several such misconceptions and incorrect information about the male genitalia floating around today. You may pick it up either on the internet or from some self-proclai...
