Informazioni su questo libro

Mesopotamians in the Mountain Luogo?
An evocative hypothesis? And yet... And yet... for many years I have searched for any kind of trace of those first Neolithics who arrived in the area of the Po Valley from the Middle East, via the Balkan Adriatic coastal route. Not just in the plains, though. Traces of a mysterious past can also be found here in the Mountain Luogo, in Montarsolo, in Alta Valtrebbia (Corte Brugnatella-Piacenza-Italy). A mysterious past that I will try to re-construct: who were these people and where did they come from?

PART ONE
Mysterious traces in the High Trebbia river valley
“It is weird to think that, in an almost forgotten place, mysteries still linger, but yet..... !”
These are the headlines taken from “The Libertà”
(the local newspaper of Piacenza),
article written by Michele Borghi on November 3rd, 2007:
< MAGICAL RITES IN THE TREBBIA RIVER VALLEY WOODS, NEW FINDINGS SUCH AS STONES AND GRAFFITI MIGHT BE RELATED TO THE ANCIENT CELTS AND LIGURIANS >
and January 5th, 2008:
< MR. CHIAPPAROLI'S RESEARCH CONTINUES, A ROCK IS DISCOVERED REPRESENTING THE FACE OF A DEITY>.

Area of mystery

Monte 'Il Luogo' - The Mountain Place - referred to as 'Il Logo' (741 metres)
It all started a long time ago, after purchasing a metal detector, it didn’t take me long to get interested in this type of research. I should say that this enthusiasm for this kind of thing began during my military service when I was appointed artificer, I occasionally used a metal detector but I had to wait ten years before I could have one of my own.
image
The purpose of this purchase was to investigate the areas where combats had taken place, to precisely locate the sites and find out what kind of armaments had been used but, despite my initial excitement, most of the time I would find iron wires and nails, occasionally a bullet case came to light, a small plate, a few bomb fragments and nothing more.
This alternation lasted for a while, until I found my fortune which occurred after a snowfall, because the passing of snow leaves the underbrush crushed, thus a perfect ground for this type of investigation; at that time I was in the middle of an old battle field between Partisans and Germans, the battle had taken place during the last war. After many unsuccessful attempts I found an arrow and after that a medieval coin (f 5) and a “Farnese coin (f 6).

After the coins, nothing else, just some insignificant findings, but one thing seemed to be coming to light in so far as the ground was apparently divided into precise lines, in one spot the metal detector would work perfectly but just a few feet away it got out of control. To begin with I thought about something big hidden under the ground, I remember shouting < I bet I’ve found a treasure trove! > but my dream didn’t last long; the answer most probably could be found in the type of ground, a part of which contained, unlike the other part, ironstone or some other metal.
However this strange reaction drew my attention to that particular part of the ground, and while I was rummaging in the bushes, I found some carved pebbles.

And nearby there was a large rock with strange engravings and resting on top of the rock another stone that seemed to represent a head.
image
After that first moment of excitement, I started to wonder why an arrow, some coins and an engraved stone could be on these mountains?
Regarding the arrow and coins, due to their strategic position, they could have belonged to an ancient guard post,
image
but the large rock, similar to a rugged statue, and situated in the woods, made me think of a strange rite held in ancient times !
What if we had come across a sacred place of the past ?
And, if this were true, how old was it ? Ligurian populations? Boi Gauls during Roman conquest? Or even the period of the first Italics ? Was it a place of worship, or a place where a hermit or sorcerer lived, who had arrived in more recent times ?
All these questions remained unsolved and so we had to widen our pursuit , not just to that site but also to the whole area, including the neighbouring village.
2
If someone believes he can come to this village to enjoy
himself, he’d better forget it!
If he would like to come and meditate while he walks, this could be the place for him!
image
Istarted the second part of my research from the village itself, a place with more ruins than houses and the average age of the ten remaining inhabitants was above 70 , but the origins of the village are extremely ancient, or better still this is what I am trying to prove here. The first evidence can be found in the famous deed by Federico Barbarossa dated 1164, when he appointed , as his feudal lord, Obizio Malaspina, of Longobardian origins , and there is a particular document amongst many in the volume entitled “Delle storie piacentine” by the chronicler Vincenzo Boselli (Arnaldo Forni Editore), <During the year 1180 the same Municipality ordered a certain number of dispatches to be sent to Mount Arzollo ……(castles situated on the mountains near Piacenza), in spite of a period of famine due to heavy rainfalls during that year>. Now all that is left of this castle is a picture of a part of it and a few stones used for other constructions, but there was a time when the castle and the village wer...
