"La terra è tonda, la benzina è infiammabile, i vaccini non provocano l'autismo. La scienza ci dice che i vaccini sono sicuri e affidabili e che proteggono i bambini e l'intera società da pericolosissime malattie. Però se vi collegate a Internet trovate un gran numero di medici e personaggi vari che vi dicono l'esatto contrario e che vi vogliono fregare. I praticoni che affollano la rete non solo mettono in pericolo il vostro conto corrente, ma anche la salute vostra, dei vostri figli e dei figli degli altri." Roberto Burioni, professore di microbiologia e virologia all'università Vita-Salute San Raffaele di Milano, spiega le inoppugnabili ragioni scientifiche che rendono vitale vaccinare i bambini. Lo fa con l'autorevolezza di un professore in camice bianco e con quella forza comunicativa che lo ha fatto conoscere sui social network, in televisione e sui giornali come il medico che "cura" le paure dei genitori di oggi sui presunti effetti collaterali dei vaccini.

Alcuni di questi genitori, disorientati, tendono a non vaccinare i propri figli con la conseguenza che la popolazione infantile non coperta dalle vaccinazioni è in repentina crescita e sta raggiungendo il livello di guardia oltre il quale si rischiano concretamente focolai di epidemie.

Il professor Burioni riporta la discussione sui vaccini su un piano oggettivo: la sua esperienza clinica e scientifica. Racconta chi ha compiuto questa scoperta medica, cosa accade al "lupo virus" quando sbatte contro un "gregge immune" alle sue zanne, quali sono i rischi reali delle vaccinazioni sulla base dei dati epidemiologici e contesta una serie di leggende metropolitane. Il libro per capire che sui vaccini infantili non c'è da discutere, ma solo da somministrare.
