Questo libro racconta sei secoli di storia degli ebrei in Europa, dal Trecento fino alle soglie del Novecento: una storia che è quella degli ebrei dell'Occidente cristiano, delle condizioni della loro esistenza, dei rapporti con la cultura esterna, di esilio e migrazioni, chiusura nei ghetti e vitalità sociale e culturale.
