Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz (Lipsia, 1Âș luglio 1646 â Hannover, 14 novembre 1716) fu un grande filosofo tedesco.
Figlio di un professore universitario, fu allevato agli studi con gran cura, respirando fin dai primi anni un ambiente di cultura raffinata. Orfano in giovane etĂ , Leibniz concluse ufficialmente gli studi di legge, ma si occupĂČ contemporaneamente di matematica e storia, di filosofia e giurisprudenza, di estetica e logica, di meccanica e fisica. Si laureĂČ presso l'UniversitĂ di Altdorf nel 1666, pubblicando nello stesso anno la sua prima opera veramente originale, De arte combinatoria, che, ripudiata dallo stesso Leibniz, verrĂ tuttavia ripresa dai moderni studiosi di logica e di logica matematica per le sue acute intuizioni in materia di riforma della vecchia logica aristotelica.
