Menschen mit Demenz haben das Recht zu entscheiden, ob sie eine medizinische Maßnahme in Anspruch nehmen oder an Demenzforschung teilnehmen möchten. Im Verlauf einer Demenz können Betroffene jedoch ihre Fähigkeit verlieren, komplexe Entscheidungen zu treffen. Man spricht in solchen Fällen von Einwilligungsunfähigkeit. Dieses Manual liefert praxisorientierte Handreichungen dafür, wie die Einwilligungsfähigkeit von Menschen mit Demenz in der klinischen Versorgung und Forschung beurteilt und wie sie mithilfe von Entscheidungsassistenz ggf. wieder hergestellt werden kann.Das Manual konkretisiert die S2k-Leitlinie "Einwilligung von Menschen mit Demenz in medizinische Maßnahmen" und macht die Leitlinienempfehlungen für die Praxis anwendbar. Erstmals in vollständiger deutscher Übersetzung enthalten sind auch die international anerkannten Instrumente zur Beurteilung der Einwilligungsfähigkeit MacCAT-T und MacCAT-CR.
