Das deviante weibliche Verhalten in der griechischen Tragödie wird in zwei Gruppen von Frauen gefasst, nĂ€mlich in Frauen, die von ihrer Gender-Rolle sich entfernen (s. aischyleische Klytaimestra, euripideische Medea) und dabei mĂ€nnliche VerhaltensrĂ€ume usurpieren, und Frauen, die ihre weibliche Rolle ĂŒbertrieben ausleben (s. sophokleische Deianeira). Beide Gruppen abweichenden weiblichen Verhaltens werden von zugeschriebenem Wahn begleitet, der szenisch ebenfalls gestaltet wird. Denn das weibliche Herauskommen aus dem Oikos und Hereintreten in die BĂŒhne korrelieren gewöhnlich mit dem weiblichen Wahnsinn, der kodierte Gender-Rollen verletzt. Dieser Wahn ist, anders als der gottgeschickte mĂ€nnliche Wahn eines Aias oder Herakles, ein soziales negatives Etikettieren, das zur Festigung der Geschlechternormen fĂŒhrt. Andererseits aber bietet dieser Wahn den Frauen einen von dem Patriarchat unabhĂ€ngigen Aktionsraum, wo sie eine originale weibliche Rede und Verhaltensweise aufzeigen, ohne lediglich, wie die Ă€ltere Forschung es wollte, das Andere fĂŒr den Mann zu spielen. Der weibliche Wahn eröffnet ebenso fĂŒr das Publikum einen Ort, auf den Fehlbarkeit, Mangel, Krankheit projiziert werden, die in der Hinterfragung verfestigter sozialer Vorstellungen ihrerseits VerĂ€nderungen im sozialen Pakt denkbar machen.
