Lucienberger hat 1576 bei seiner Dramatisierung der Aeneis aus einem Epos von 9.900 Versen durch Kürzungen, aber auch einige inhaltliche Ergänzungen (u.a. einer positiven Schlussszene) einen dialogisierten Text von 6.000 Hexametern gemacht, der wie zahlreiche Regiebemerkungen erweisen szenisch aufgeführt werden sollte. In der Aeneis nehmen die direkten Reden von 50 Personen mehr als ein Drittel des Epos ein. In der Tragicocomoedia haben 150 Akteure auch die erzählenden, beschreibenden oder reflektierenden Partien der Aeneis zu übernehmen. Lucienberger musste also u.a. Gleichnisse, Kampfschilderungen, Kataloge, Beschreibungen von Kunstwerken und Örtlichkeiten und auktoriale Äußerungen Vergils in Dialoge umsetzen oder auf sie verzichten. Seine Transformationstechniken sind aufschlussreich für die gattungstypischen Unterschiede zwischen Drama und Epos (z.B. hinsichtlich der Identifizierbarkeit der Personen). In einem digitalen Ergänzungsband werden u.a. eine neuartige sinnreiche Synopse und eine schematische vergleichende Inhaltsangabe der beiden hexametrischen lateinischen Texte geboten.
