Die beiden bekanntesten Texte der altnordischen Mythologie, die Lieder-Edda und die Prosa-Edda, welche im 13. Jahrhundert in Island verschriftlicht wurden, bieten eine Vielzahl von Erzählungen über die Entstehung der Welt bis hin zu ihrem Untergang.Die Untersuchung geht anhand von Theorien und Methoden, die der gegenwärtigen Raumwissenschaft in den Kultur- und literaturwissenschaften entliehen sind, der Frage nach, über welche narratologischen Darstellungsverfahren in den Texten der altnordischen Mythologie der Kosmos der eddischen Mythen aufgebaut, gegliedert und wieder zerstört wird. Dabei wird gezeigt, dass die Topographien der eddischen Mythen bei weitem nicht so statisch sind, wie bisher von der Forschung angenommen wurde, sondern äußerst dynamisch funktionieren und sich immer ihrem Verwendungszweck in der Erzählung anpassen.Dr. phil. Lukas Rösli ist Assistent für ältere und neuere skandinavische Literatur am Seminar für Nordistik der Universität Basel.
