Risiken von Glücksspielen um Geld, insbesondere auch für Jugendliche, sind seit geraumer Zeit Gegenstand der politischen und gesellschaftlichen Diskussion.Das vorliegende Buch diskutiert die Forschungslage zum Glücksspielen in Deutschland und stellt die Ergebnisse einer Studie vor, die dazu beitragen soll, die empirische Grundlage für die Ableitung wirksamer Präventionsansätze im Bereich Glücksspielen zu verbessern.Im Rahmen einer breit angelegten Online-Befragung von fast 7.000 Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen in Deutschland wurden über das Spielverhalten hinaus - von Lotto, Sportwetten, Internet-Glücksspiel, bis hin zu Geldgewinnspielgeräten - eine Vielzahl von Daten zum Freizeitverhalten und zur Lebenswelt der Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen erfasst. Dabei zeigte sich u. a., dass Glücksspielen an sich noch kein Hinweis auf eine Problemlage ist, sondern dass bei problematischen Spielern das missbräuchliche Glücksspiel offensichtlich nur ein Symptom vielfältiger dahinterliegender Problematiken ist.
