Im Zuge der Modernisierung und Professionalisierung des Sozialwesens fanden in der Privatwirtschaft bewährte Führungsinstrumente Eingang in die Soziale Arbeit. Ein von den Mitarbeitern in besonderer Weise wahrgenommenes Instrument ist das Mitarbeitergespräch und die damit häufig verbundenen Zielvereinbarungen.Die vorliegende Studie widmet sich aus ethischer Perspektive unter anderem folgenden Fragen: Wie sind solche Führungsinstrumente einzusetzen, um den Eigenheiten des Non-Profit-Sektors Rechnung zu tragen? Welche Herausforderungen stellen sie an die Beteiligten, welche an die betrieblichen Strukturen und Abläufe? Sind solche Instrumente mit den in der Regel rigiden Entlohnungssystemen kompatibel?Die Bewertung orientiert sich hierbei an allgemeinen (wirtschafts-)ethischen Reflexionen sowie an der christlichen Ethos-Tradition und verortet das Problem zwischen Individual- und Institutionenethik. In Hinblick auf das Engagement der Kirchen im sozialen Bereich leistet die Arbeit einen Beitrag zur Sozialethik kirchlicher Strukturen und kirchlichen Lebens.
