Die preußische Provinz Pommern war ein klassisches Agrarland. Noch zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts lebten und arbeiteten rund 60 Prozent der Bevölkerung auf dem Land. Das Leben unterlag dem jahreszeitlichen Rhythmus, wie ihn die Landwirtschaft vorgab. Nicht nur die Arbeit mit ihren saisonalen Spitzen in der Saat- und Erntezeit, auch das Fest- und Brauchtum der Bevölkerung orientierte sich danach. Trotzdem war das Landleben nichts unverrĂŒckbar Statisches. Der technische Fortschritt hielt hier genauso Einzug, wie sich grĂ¶ĂŸere politische und wirtschaftliche ZusammenhĂ€nge bemerkbar machten. All dies ist bereits frĂŒh fotografisch dokumentiert worden. Versehen mit einer allgemeinen Einleitung und thematischen Texten zeigt dieser Band eine reprĂ€sentative Auswahl aus den fotografischen Sammlungen des Pommerschen Landesmuseums in Greifswald. Sie werden durch weitere Fotos, auch aus Privatbesitz, ergĂ€nzt und bieten einen faszinierenden Ein- und RĂŒckblick auf die Lebens- und Arbeitswelt im alten Pommern zwischen 1900 und 1945.
