Hitler und die NSDAP zĂ€hlten Fritz Gerlich, den Chefredakteur der Wochenzeitung "Der gerade Weg" in MĂŒnchen, zu ihren schĂ€rfsten Gegnern. Er wurde bereits am 9. MĂ€rz 1933 verhaftet und am 1. Juli 1934 im KZ Dachau ermordet. Fritz Gerlich gehörte zu den frĂŒhen Stimmen der Weimarer Republik, die vor Hitler und dem Nationalsozialismus warnten. Lange Zeit in Vergessenheit geraten, erfĂ€hrt der streitbare und meinungsstarke Publizist nun durch den Historiker Rudolf Morsey auf der Grundlage von Gerlichs Nachlass eine umfassende WĂŒrdigung. Dabei verlief Gerlichs Weg gegen den "Hitlerbolschewismus" keineswegs so gradlinig, wie es der Titel seiner Zeitung "Der gerade Weg" suggeriert: Als Hauptschriftleiter der "MĂŒnchner Neuesten Nachrichten" (1920-1928) unterstĂŒtzte er kurzzeitig die NSDAP. 1927 verĂ€nderten Begegnungen mit der Mystikerin Therese Neumann in Konnersreuth sein Leben. Sie gipfelten in der Konversion des Calvinisten zum ĂŒberzeugten Katholiken. 1930 wurde Fritz Gerlich zum entschiedenen Gegner Hitlers, was ihn bereits 1934 das Leben kostete.
